On behalf of our client, Purdue Pharma, and a coalition of patient advocacy, substance abuse providers, law enforcement and medical professionals, we were able to help pass opioid abuse-deterrent legislation this legislative session in both the New York State Assembly and Senate. This groundbreaking legislation will save tens of thousands of lives in New York by promoting the use of abuse-deterrent properties opioid medications as opposed to those without abuse-deterrent properties, as such properties make it harder to tamper with the medication via snorting or melting, in turn cutting down on abuse levels which are near all time highs across the country. This critical legislation now awaits Governor Cuomo's signature.
